Course Meeting Times:
Lectures: 2 sessions/ week, 1.5 hours/session

Goals
After this course you will be able to:
  • Identify the components of CNC machines
  • Comprehend the programming procedure
  • Identify the different programming commands
  • Explain the machine program structure
  • Describe the mechanical systems in CNC machines
  • List the different machine control element
  • Analyze a program to fetch the syndics and semantics errors
  • Write CNC program for a real case study
  • Write CNC program for a real case study
  • Demonstrate the different mechanisms in CNC machines

Examinations:
The final exam is 3 hours long.

Sections:
The purpose of the recitations is to give students experience in the subject by working out examples and expanding on the material presented in the lectures. Attendance and participation in the recitations is obligatory.

  3. Understanding and using of G02 G03 G90 G91 G40 G41 G42 G43 G44 G49 for milling M/C.
  4. Components of CNC machines; Mechanical parts.
  5. Components of CNC machines; Speed drives and control, hot electrical panel.
  6. Components of CNC machines; Sensors, Transducers & Limit switches.
  7. Understanding and using Canned cycles (Drilling, Pocket milling).
  8. Understanding and using of G92, Repetition, Mirror (milling M/C).
  9. Understanding and using G00 G01 M03 M04 M05 M07 M08 M09 M30 for turning M/C.
  10. Understanding and using of G02 G03 G90 G91 G40 G41 G42 G43 G44 G49 for turning M/C.
  11. Understanding and using Canned cycles for turning machines.
