Course Meeting Times:
Lectures: 2 sessions/week, 1.5 hours/session
Sections: 1 session/week, 1.5 hours/session
Laboratories: 1 session/weeks, 1.5 hour/session

Goals
After this course you will be able to:
  • Define and explain of the importance of mechatronics in industrial applications.
  • Describe and define the fundamental concepts of: " mechatronics".
  • Describe where the mechatronics are used.
  • Choose appropriate components for mechatronics product design.
  • Conclude and developing innovative solutions for the practical industrial problems.
  • Analyze a mechatronics product for any specific application.
  • Diagnose the faults in mechatronics products.
  • Design a mechatronics product.
  • Write a modern advanced report.
  • Train on simulation software for control systems.
  • Train to retrieve information using Internet.

Examinations:
The final exam is 3 hours long.

Sections:
The purpose of the recitations is to give students experience in the subject by working out examples and expanding on the material presented in the lectures. Attendance and participation in the recitations is obligatory.

Mini-Project Activities:
  • Students will be divided to groups to work in teams.
  • The number of students per group is 4-5.
  • Each group should to accomplish at least one mini-projects under the VDI 2206 concept.
  • Groups can choose their projects freely.
  • Each student will be assessed according to:
    1- His progress in the project activities through the weeks of the semester
    2- Presenting his project at the end of the semester.

Grading:
  • 20% - Mini-Project
  • 20% - Lab experiments, tutorial, attendance
  • 60% - Final exam
