On Wednesday, April 9th 2014, the Mechatronics Department in Ain Shams University welcomed a group of very young enthusiastic high school students from the Maadi STEM. The visit was part of their work on school projects that covered various topics like new energy resources and solving Egypt’s traffic problems. The young scientists were seeking help and advice from our Professors and Researchers in how to better develop their ideas and how to efficiently implement prototypes for these projects.

Their ideas were mainly targeting Egypt’s strategic problems. A main track was developing the energy resources of Egypt. They are trying to develop new techniques to generate energy from renewable resources available in Egypt, and also focusing on the optimization of existing systems, and harvesting energy excess heat and vibrations. The other main track was solving the traffic problem of Egypt. They are trying to develop Automatic systems for planning traffic and avoiding harsh congestions. Both tracks are part of the research tracks within the Mechatronics Department.

During the visit, the RAs and Professors listened to the young visitors did their best to utilize the available time to help them in their current projects and guide them in future planning. The Mechatronics Department are very proud of these energetic and creative minds, wishes them the best in their projects, and looks forward to have them join the department when they graduate.
